Wayang Women Live in Dataran

After two sold-out shows in Kuala Lumpur last year, KL Festival is excited to welcome Wayang Women back after touring to Bali – this time for a special performance at Dataran Merdeka on 16 May.

Blending humour, folklore, and Wayang Kulit, Wayang Women reimagines ghost stories from across Malaysia and the region with a playful twist. Expect your usual hantu(s) – Pontianak, Penanggal and a new mysterious ghost to amuse and entertain while exploring issues affecting us currently.

The troupe brings together musicians from across Southeast Asia and the Netherlands, creating a rich sonic landscape where traditional instruments from different regions of Southeast Asia intertwine with contemporary electronic music.
