TITANS & Temptations with The klpac Orchestra

July 18 @ 8:30 pm - July 19 @ 4:30 pm SMT
RM78 – RM150

THE TITAN AWAKENS in The klpac Orchestra’s most ambitious programme to date featuring over 100 musicians in conjunction with its 20th anniversary.

Early and late romantics meet under the baton of Maestro Lee Kok Leong in the upcoming TITANS & Temptations concert.

Opening the programme will be Felix Mendelssohn’s very last violin concerto, a labour of love over six years in collaboration with long-time friend Ferdinand David. The grace and lyricism of Violin Concert in E minor is brought to life by violin soloist Bernice Ooi, who is not only the first Southeast Asian member of the Royal Swedish Orchestra, one of the world’s oldest orchestras, but an international violinist who has performed in venues like Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall.

Then, like nature’s awakening after a long winter – the titan awakens. From one voice to over a hundred, the orchestra breathes life into Gustav Mahler’s revolutionary Symphony No. 1 which begins with a vast soundscape of nature and folk melodies before descending into a funeral march and culminating in a fiery and triumphant finale.

And just when you think the evening’s over, the gallop hits. The wild, unstoppable rush of Franz von Súppe’s Light Cavalry Overture charges to the finishing line with energy and charm.

Two ends of Romanticism. Two decades of music-making. One stage. An unmissable celebration of the best of classical music and The klpac Orchestra’s legacy.

Programmes:
● Franz von Suppé | Light Cavalry Overture
● Felix Mendelssohn | Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64
