The National University of Singapore proudly presents its Symphony Orchestra (NUSSO), a cornerstone of the NUS Arts for All framework, in its Kuala Lumpur debut at the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS. This performance embodies NUS’s commitment to deepening engagement with ASEAN friends and colleagues, making arts accessible locally and across the region.

Comprising students from faculties across the university, NUSSO is housed within the Arts for All framework to enhance student engagement in the arts. Members participate in credit-bearing music programmes administered by NUS’s world-class Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, integrating Conservatory training with their broader interdisciplinary academic pursuits.

This evening’s programme journeys from the street energy of Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances through the lyric breadth of Saint-Saëns’s Cello Concerto No. 1 to the inexorable force of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5—reflecting how a new generation across ASEAN is charting fresh approaches to learning, leading, and listening across cultures and communities. Featuring renowned Malaysian cellist and NUS alumna Elizabeth Tan with NUS Professor Chan Tze Law conducting, the concert affirms NUSSO’s role in fostering regional exchange through passion and artistic collaboration—an evening not to be missed.
