SUMMARY:A Path Carved by My Returning - Art Exhibition by Ilham Alshahab
DESCRIPTION:In A Path Carved By My Returning\, Ilham Alshahab invites viewers to slow down and reconsider the act of looking\, how repeated encounters with the familiar and mundane can shift in perception\, allowing what was once passed by to come into view through time and attention. \nDrawing from her experience of returning and repeating her cycling route in her neighbourhood\, the work traces her shift from restlessness to attention. Small moments that once lingered in the edges of her vision begin to take precedence\, moving from the periphery to the centre. \nA path is slowly carved through the accumulation of her visits to the periphery. Where looking again and again allows the ordinary to unfold into something expansive. \nThis body of work will be on display at The Dia Space from 1 May 2026 till 31 July 2026.

SUMMARY:Under the Shadows of Merdeka Photography Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Malaysia gained its independence in 1957. Fast forward 67 years and Menara Merdeka 118\, the second tallest building in the world\, stands proudly in the centre of Kuala Lumpur. \nNeedless to say\, progress and change in the capital have been rapid. The cityscape is filled with modern infrastructure and skyscrapers\, yet historical\, traditional and cultural characteristics persevere. \n‘Under the Shadows of Merdeka’ is a visual documentation of the precincts surrounding Menara Merdeka 118. In the heart of Kuala Lumpur\, people\, places and moments are captured in black & white by photographers Azul Adnan and Grace Ho Pui Wan. These photos set out to preserve both the old and the new\, showing how the city has developed since Malaysia’s independence. \nThis project was under the Merdeka 118 Community Grants Programme Cycle 2 by Think City and PNB Merdeka Ventures. It involved Azul and Grace photographing the areas around Merdeka 118\, conducting photography workshops for schools\, exhibiting the images and publishing a photo book in December 2024. \nThis exhibition\, held at the South Lobby of Menara Merdeka 118\, will be the third time some of these photos are displayed to the public\, the first being inside Stadium Merdeka (2024) and the second being at GMBB (2025). There will be some newer images that will be exhibited for the first time.

SUMMARY:Memory’s Landscape: Works From the Steve Wong Art Collection
DESCRIPTION:Memory\, and the act of remembering\, is never straightforward. It is both active and passive\, straddling the spectrum between the vague and the clear. A memory recollected is born out of negotiations of what we choose to store or omit\, reconstructing compositions of truths and half-truths. Yet memory itself is not a place. Landscapes therefore give memory an anchor — a foreground\, a background\, and everything in between — ranging from scenes of retraced certainty and clarity\, to messy and muddled impressions. \nGDP Architects and R+\, supported by Aēsop\, are delighted to present Memory’s Landscape: Works from the Steve Wong Art Collection. The curation and layout by R+\, enhanced by an infusion of scents by Aēsop\, set the spatial and sensorial tone for the space at GDP Campus. Through a selection of 20 artworks by 19 visual artists\, the exhibition rekindles the familiar yet interconnected ties between memory and landscape — in others\, and of our own. \nExhibition Details\nAdmission fee and visiting slots apply. \nDate: 16 May – 2 August 2026\nOpen on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday\nOpening hours: 10am – 6pm\nVenue: 79\, Jalan SetiaBakti\, Bukit Damansara\, 50490 Kuala Lumpur \nProgrammes\nRegistration for all programmes is inclusive of exhibition viewing. Choose the corresponding event dates as listed above. \nLines of Site: How We Interrogate Memory\nUnpack the context\, motivation and journey behind the curation in a dialogue with the curator and designers of R+. \nSaturday\, 20 June 2026\n11:00 AM – 12:30 PM \nGuided Tours\nTours offer further insight into the curatorial journey. SUMMARY:The Symphony of Progress
DESCRIPTION:The Overture of a New Era\nIn the heart of Kuala Lumpur\, where heritage architecture meets the soaring ambition of modern skyscrapers\, a unique harmony is preparing to take center stage. Under the grand banner of the ASEAN Symphonic Convergence 2026\, the Festival Orkestra Kuala Lumpur proudly presents “The Symphony of Progress” Forum. \nThis is not just another conference; it is a transformative two-day experience designed to explore an evocative premise: where sound shapes society\, from stage to the soul. \nThe Gathering: Time and Place\nOn the weekend of June 20th and 21st\, 2026\, the historic and elegant Mayor’s Courtyard at Rumah Tangsi\, KL\, will open its doors. It acts as the driving rhythm of the forum\, ensuring the next generation has the platform and the tools to compose their own futures. \n2. Mental Health \nThe Science of Sound: Delving into the profound\, therapeutic power of audio\, this pillar explores sound for mental wellness in both personal and intense corporate settings. It addresses the harmonious balance required to thrive in a fast-paced world. \n3. Cultural Tourism\, AI & Technology \nThe Digital Evolution: Where tradition meets tomorrow. This segment examines the fascinating evolution of symphony music and its intersection with cutting-edge AI\, emerging technologies\, and the future of cultural tourism. \nBeyond the Discussion: An Immersive Experience\n“The Symphony of Progress” breaks the mold of traditional forums by offering an interactive\, multi-dimensional program. Attendees will not just listen—they will engage through: \nKeynotes & Panels: Thought-provoking dialogues led by industry pioneers. \nImmersion Hubs & Interactive Soundscape Installations: Physical spaces designed to let participants feel and manipulate the power of sound. \nImpact Roundtables: Collaborative spaces where ideas are forged into concrete action plans. \nBrand & Business Showcase: A look at the economic and entrepreneurial engine driving the creative industries. \nForum Exclusive Performances: Live\, curated symphonic showcases that bring the forum’s core philosophy to life. \nA Collaborative Composition\nSupported by prestigious strategic partners (Rakan Strategik) including XL Akademi\, CIMB\, CATS\, Iskandar\, Virtual\, Malaysia Truly Asia\, Wiraknal\, and Wondern Arttech\, this event stands as a testament to what happens when corporate\, tech\, and cultural sectors unite. \nYour Invitation to the Symphony\nThe score has been written\, and the orchestra is tuning its instruments.
