SUMMARY:A Path Carved by My Returning - Art Exhibition by Ilham Alshahab
DESCRIPTION:In A Path Carved By My Returning\, Ilham Alshahab invites viewers to slow down and reconsider the act of looking\, how repeated encounters with the familiar and mundane can shift in perception\, allowing what was once passed by to come into view through time and attention. \nDrawing from her experience of returning and repeating her cycling route in her neighbourhood\, the work traces her shift from restlessness to attention. Small moments that once lingered in the edges of her vision begin to take precedence\, moving from the periphery to the centre. \nA path is slowly carved through the accumulation of her visits to the periphery. Where looking again and again allows the ordinary to unfold into something expansive. \nThis body of work will be on display at The Dia Space from 1 May 2026 till 31 July 2026.

SUMMARY:Memory’s Landscape: Works From the Steve Wong Art Collection
DESCRIPTION:Memory\, and the act of remembering\, is never straightforward. It is both active and passive\, straddling the spectrum between the vague and the clear. A memory recollected is born out of negotiations of what we choose to store or omit\, reconstructing compositions of truths and half-truths. Yet memory itself is not a place. Landscapes therefore give memory an anchor — a foreground\, a background\, and everything in between — ranging from scenes of retraced certainty and clarity\, to messy and muddled impressions. \nGDP Architects and R+\, supported by Aēsop\, are delighted to present Memory’s Landscape: Works from the Steve Wong Art Collection. The curation and layout by R+\, enhanced by an infusion of scents by Aēsop\, set the spatial and sensorial tone for the space at GDP Campus. Through a selection of 20 artworks by 19 visual artists\, the exhibition rekindles the familiar yet interconnected ties between memory and landscape — in others\, and of our own. \nExhibition Details\nAdmission fee and visiting slots apply. \nDate: 16 May – 2 August 2026\nOpen on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday\nOpening hours: 10am – 6pm\nVenue: 79\, Jalan SetiaBakti\, Bukit Damansara\, 50490 Kuala Lumpur \nProgrammes\nRegistration for all programmes is inclusive of exhibition viewing. SUMMARY:TRUE Live Tour PLAY! vol.3 -乱舞-in Malaysia
DESCRIPTION:This tour concept is inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics and culture\, creating the most intense\, emotional\, and “insane” stage performance of her career so far. \nThe overall theme of the show is based on “Taisho Roman” and Japanese-style elements. “Taisho Roman” represents the unique cultural atmosphere of Japan’s Taisho era\, blending traditional Japanese beauty with early modern Western influences to create a distinctive artistic world. Every aspect of the production — including stage design\, costumes\, visuals\, and lighting — reflects this elegant yet dramatic aesthetic. \nMusically\, the show also strongly incorporates Japanese influences\, with many songs featuring special Japanese-style arrangements. Traditional Japanese-inspired melodies\, rhythms\, and sounds are fused with powerful rock energy and delicate Japanese aesthetics\, creating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that is both beautiful and intensely dynamic. \nDate: 24 July 2026 (Fri)\nDoors Open: 7 PM\nShow Starts: 8 PM\nVenue: Bentley Music Auditorium

SUMMARY:Being Carried
DESCRIPTION:Being Carried is a new interdisciplinary theatre collaboration between Malaysia and the UK\, combining monologues/text\, movement\, soundscapes\, visual and spoken languages. \nThe performance will explore how we are carried and how we carry others – physically\, practically\, emotionally\, metaphorically – from birth cradled in parental arms to being carried to resting places after death. It will consider power dynamics and hierarchies\, the baseline of being human – care\, intimacy\, resilience. What is it to assist\, to be assisted – to transport\, convey\, transfer\, lug? What is it to hold and to be held and what relationships exist in this act of carriage? \nAn intimate chamber piece\, Being Carried utilises traditional and innovative storytelling to reflect the beliefs\, emotions and lived experience of disabled\, Deaf and neurodivergent people in Malaysia. Funny\, painful\, full of fire and passion\, these stories are informed by our grassroots community engagement with the disabled community\, revealing perspectives rarely shared. \nUntil now. \nFrom the acclaimed team of And Suddenly I Disappear\, a 2017/18 Unlimited International commission\, Being Carried expands on Kaite O’Reilly’s model of The ‘d’ Monologues\, initiated for her 2012 Unlimited Cultural Olympiad commission (In Water I’m Weightless\, NTW/Southbank) with collaborators Grace Lee-Khoo (Access Path Productions\, Singapore)\, Wheelsmith (Malaysia/Singapore) and Ho Lee Ching (Malaysia).

SUMMARY:TEATER MUZIKAL KESUMA SANTUBONG
DESCRIPTION:SIFAR is a Kuching-based creative collective dedicated to reimagining Sarawakian heritage through contemporary performance. The 2008 National Malaysia Theatre Festival marked a pivotal milestone in SIFAR’s history within the Malaysian theatre scene. SIFAR brought immense pride to Sarawak on the national stage by being crowned Festival Champion that year. In 2014\, SIFAR repeated this feat\, once again securing the Champion title for Sarawak. These dual national victories established Sarawak as a formidable force in Malaysian theatre. Adding to these achievements\, SIFAR also swept major awards\, including Best Director (2008\, 2014)\, Best Male Actor (2008\, 2014)\, Best Supporting Male Actor (2008)\, Best Supporting Female Actor (2014)\, and the Best Emerging Male Actor award (2008). Since its inception in 2006\, SIFAR has produced over 20 theatre productions and organized numerous arts and cultural activities. \nMuzikal Kesuma Santubong is SIFAR’s most ambitious project to date. Moving beyond traditional storytelling\, this production uses original songs to explore the emotional depth of the Santubong myth. The Kesuma represents the blooming spirit of the mountain as a symbol of beauty and resilience. The score blends ethnic Sarawakian instruments with modern musical arrangements. The narrative focuses on the internal growth of the protagonists\, moving away from a simple rivalry to a story of self-discovery and the environmental soul of the mountain. With a diverse cast of singers and dancers\, the musical aims to set a new standard for independent musical theatre in Kuching. We are debuting an original score composed by young local musicians and featuring a fresh face ensemble. It represents the growth of local theatre from spoken word into a full-scale melodic experience.
