SUMMARY:IMMERSIO 2026
DESCRIPTION:You know PASAR. But perhaps not quite like this. \nThe smell of something frying a few stalls away. Handwritten prices on cardboard. Traders calling out\, conversations switching between languages. You went there for one thing; a few stalls later\, your hands are full. \nFor IMMERSIO 2026\, PASAR becomes the starting point for more than 100 artists and creative technologists from Malaysia and across Asia\, each offering their own take on its encounters\, exchanges\, cultures and beautiful chaos through more than 70 works spanning digital and interactive art\, projection\, sculpture\, visual works and performance. \nIMMERSIO is a biennial new media art festival by Filamen that invites audiences to experience art beyond the usual gallery setting. For its 2026 edition\, the familiar world of PASAR becomes something to look at again and experience it differently. \nAt GMBB\, Level 5 becomes the festival’s main exhibition space\, bringing together many interpretations of PASAR. Wander through the exhibition and see how artists across cultures and creative practices make something entirely their own out of a world so familiar to us. \nYou don’t need to know anything about new media art before you come\, but start with something you already know. \nYou know PASAR. Now come see what else it can become at IMMERSIO 2026. \nEvent Details: \nVenue: GMBB\, Level 5\nDate: 11 – 27 September 2026 (Closed on Mondays)\nTime: 11:00am – 8:00pm \nTicket Prices: \nEarly Bird: RM6\nGeneral Admission: RM15\nGroup Ticket (5 pax): RM55\nMultiple Entry + Exclusive Gift: RM65\nSenior Citizens\, PWD & Children under 12: Free \n💡✨ PASAR Goes Beyond GMBB ✨💡 \nIMMERSIO 2026 also unfolds across other locations in Kuala Lumpur\, with programmes at Muzium Telekom\, REXKL\, OMBAK KLCC and Tasik Titiwangsa. \nNote: This ticket is for the IMMERSIO 2026 exhibition at GMBB. Programmes at other locations may be free or separately ticketed. \nAbout IMMERSIO \nFirst launched in 2017\, IMMERSIO has grown into a platform for Southeast Asia’s digital and new media art scene\, bringing emerging and established artists together to experiment\, create and connect their works with audiences. \nOver six editions\, IMMERSIO has taken shape across spaces including Urbanscapes\, Muzium Telekom and GMBB. Now returning for its seventh edition\, the festival continues to evolve with the artists\, ideas and creative practices shaping new media across the region.

SUMMARY:Eurydice By Sarah Ruhl
DESCRIPTION:In Eurydice\, Sarah Ruhl reimagines the timeless myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through the eyes of its heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day\, Eurydice must journey to the underworld\, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost life. Filled with contemporary characters\, playful theatricality and rich visual language\, Eurydice is a funny\, fantastical and ultimately heartbreaking exploration of love\, loss and the impossible business of saying goodbye. \nDirected by Ghafir Akbar\, this vibrant new production stars Vinna Law as Eurydice who returns to the Malaysian stage from London\, alongside the formidable trio of Jo Kukathas\, Anne James and Sukania Venugopal forming the deliciously mischievous chorus of the Underworld. Rounding out the versatile cast are acclaimed stage veterans Gavin Yap and Terence Swampillai\, with rising new talent Tinesh Janaki Raman as Orpheus.

SUMMARY:storytelling ODYSSEY: The Adventure
DESCRIPTION:This first instalment focuses on Odysseus’s adventures and journey home following the Trojan War. \nOdysseus has won the War. He’s ready to go home. But the sea has other plans… \nStorytelling Odyssey is a retelling of Homer’s epic\, brought to life by three actors using everyday objects\, movement\, music\, and a little help from the audience. Along the way\, Odysseus will encounter monsters\, magic\, and impossible choices as he struggles to find his way home. \nThe show is suitable for audiences aged 5 to 90. Younger audiences may delight in the adventure; older audiences may find themselves thinking about entirely different things. What makes a hero? What happens when a journey changes us? How long can someone be away\, before home no longer feels like home?

SUMMARY:IMMERSIO @RexKL
DESCRIPTION:As part of IMMERSIO 2026: PASAR\, the festival extends beyond its main exhibition at GMBB and into REXKL\, bringing together a series of artist sharing sessions\, performances and community-driven programmes during the festival’s final weekend\, from 25–27 September 2026. \nLocated in the heart of downtown Kuala Lumpur\, REXKL has transformed the former Rex Theatre into a creative and cultural community hub for exhibitions\, performances\, screenings and gatherings. Its history of adaptive reuse and its role as a meeting point for different communities make it a fitting space for IMMERSIO to expand conversations around art\, technology and contemporary culture. \nIMMERSIO @ REXKL focuses on the more social and performative side of new media art. Moving beyond the conventional exhibition format\, the programme creates opportunities for artists and audiences to meet\, exchange ideas and experience works through live performance\, audiovisual experimentation and conversation. \nIn the spirit of PASAR\, REXKL becomes another point of exchange within the wider IMMERSIO ecosystem — a place where people gather\, ideas circulate and different creative practices meet. Together with the exhibitions and programmes happening across GMBB\, Muzium Telekom and OMBAK KLCC\, IMMERSIO @ REXKL reflects the festival’s ambition to bring new media art into different spaces and communities across Kuala Lumpur. \nIMMERSIO 2026 @ REXKL25–27 September 2026REXKL\, Jalan Sultan\, Kuala Lumpur. Artist sharing sessions are free; performances are ticketed.

SUMMARY:Odes To Heroes 英歌 by Guangzhou Song and Dance Theatre
DESCRIPTION:The dance drama Odes To Heroes centers around the Yingge Dance\, renowned as the “Chinese Martial Dance”. Through the fantasy time-space journey of the young man Chen Xinyuan\, it recreates the struggle history and the great sense of family and country of the ancestors in the Chaoshan hometown of overseas Chinese when they “headed to Southeast Asia”. The drama skillfully integrates Lingnan folk elements such as Qiaopi (overseas Chinese remittance letters)\, Chaoshan Opera\, woodcarving\, and hand-made beef balls. Coupled with creative dance choreography and stunning audio-visual effects\, it perfectly combines the profundity of traditional culture with innovative stage technology. It is regarded by the audience as a cultural masterpiece that “awakens the bloodline”. It has won the funded project of the National Art Fund in 2025 and the 2025 Cross-border Communication Award at the Weibo Revitalizing Intangible Cultural Heritage Ceremony\, among others.

SUMMARY:Getting To Know You
DESCRIPTION:A PERFORMANCE WITHOUT REHEARSALS \nNightclub. New Year’s Eve. After years apart\, Eri and Alex meet again\, wondering why there aren’t any coming-of-age stories for people in their 30s. What follows is a study of belief: in friendship\, in dark spaces\, and in the people we give our hearts to. \nTo perform this\, the two actors each night will have neither seen nor rehearsed the script before stepping onto stage\, guided only by the text and the audience. Our designers join them in the unknown\, shaping light and sound live as the performance unfolds. \nThis is Getting To Know You’s Malaysian premiere\, following its run in Singapore earlier this month.

SUMMARY:Pencil Miles and Sense of Place: Nature Journaling Session
DESCRIPTION:This fun\, relaxing practice helps us to connect more closely with nature\, and results in the creation of our own unique nature journal. Both the practice and the end product are important. The practice improves our recognition of different animal and plant species\, and our understanding of where and how they live. With time\, it also improves our ability to observe\, to draw and to write. A journal allows us to capture the moment (a sunset\, a view\, a critter\, a flower\, a fungus…) and recall observations which would otherwise be forgotten. The entries in our journal can give us inspiration for other creative projects\, such as writing\, painting\, textiles\, music\, other craft\, and so on. A nature journal can also be used to compile species sightings and other more scientific observations that are of great value to citizen science projects. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their own mat as the sessions will take place outdoors in nature 🌿🍃

SUMMARY:Khadam Screening
DESCRIPTION:Set in the 1950s\, the story follows Melor\, a mute mother of two who is next in line to inherit her family’s Khadam\, a djinn passed down through generations. Knowing the terrible consequences and the long-lasting bond that can never be broken\, Melor is determined not to become the entity’s new master. In retaliation\, the saka torments her family\, particularly her daughter\, Puteh\, who is next in line to inherit it. This forces Melor to appease the saka\, just as her mother and grandmother did before her. While the pacified saka initially does her bidding\, the cost of her being a weak mistress is high\, and the entity begins to slowly consume her. Melor’s sister\, Manis\, urges her to break the pact\, but things quickly go awry when her abusive husband\, Awang\, returns after a long absence\, having been away working for months. Melor begins losing her sense of identity and is gripped by paranoia\, she grows increasingly volatile as her control over the saka slips. While Puteh and Hitam scramble to figure out the truth behind the double in their house\, the saka’s grip on Melor’s life becomes absolute. Melor is forced into a final\, harrowing sacrifice to contain the darkness she unleashed. \nAge limit: Recommended for 16 years old and above. \nAdvisory: Contains horror elements\, themes of syirik (idolatry)\, graphic violence and gore\, disturbing imagery\, and frightening scenes. SUMMARY:Novel Ecosystems: Finding Value in Invasive Species
DESCRIPTION:The introduction of invasive species is an example of that. While invasive species do bring harm to local ecosystems\, what often goes undiscussed is how some also contribute to the functioning of these ecosystems. \nJoin us in an exploratory session where we ask what it means for invasive species to exist in our local ecosystems and examine what we value in urban ecosystems. What if invasive species were not simply a driver of environmental degradation\, but rather a symptom of it? Together\, we’ll weigh the services and disservices each invasive species brings\, and consider how this understanding could inform the management of invasive species population\, or even the ecosystem itself. \nAll are welcome to attend!\nThis session will be moderated by Sirius Lui.

SUMMARY:Between Resting: A Performance by Kien Faye
DESCRIPTION:Rather than treating the river as a destination\, Faye approaches it as a living route where water\, plants\, insects\, architecture\, and human presence coexist in quiet negotiation. Benches\, shaded ponds\, river sounds\, and a scaffold extending towards the water become moments to pause\, observe\, and respond. \nAn experimental contemporary trance practitioner and performer based in Kuala Lumpur\, Faye’s practice is rooted in Javanese and Malaysian trance traditions. Through movement\, voice\, natural materials\, and ritual actions\, he explores relationships between body\, land\, memory\, and the environments we inhabit. His performances are less about spectacle than about cultivating heightened awareness and allowing the site to shape the body in real time. \nIn Between Resting\, walking becomes a slow choreography of listening. Each pause becomes an encounter\, each encounter a gentle offering. The work invites audiences to reconsider the rhythms of the city and the river\, and to discover that even while passing through\, we may still find a place to rest.

SUMMARY:Nina & Nona Bertemu - A celebration of homemade Eurasian cuisine
DESCRIPTION:Pansy Veronica Gomes\, or Nina (as her grandchildren lovingly called her)\, is widely regarded as one of\, if not the best cook in the Skelchy-Gomes family. The image of her labouring over a pot of Inche Mintu (cabbage rolls) or hand-grinding rempah (spices) for a curry is seared into our memories. Just the mere mention of her Devil Curry is enough to make everyone salivate. \nWatching her cook was an adventure in and of itself. While most Malaysians subscribe to the “agak-agak” cooking motto\, Nina took it a step further. She measured many ingredients using only her hand\, with several of her recipes including instructions like\, “add a handful of cumin”. Yet\, the taste of her food never wavered; every meal was guaranteed to leave us satisfied and satiated. \nAfter her passing in 2013\, her recipes became a way for us to honour and remember her. \nJunji Delfino\, or Nona (as her granddaughter lovingly calls her)\, has worked tirelessly over the last 13 years to preserve the memory of Nina’s cooking. Over many sleepless nights\, she has painstakingly deciphered what’s really in a single “Nina-handful” to recreate Nina’s best hits. \nTo the family\, Nina’s food will always call to mind memories of home and a simpler time. And we want to share the experience with you. \nJoin us for dinner on the 26th of September at Temu House as we serve our favourite dishes that are sure to feel like a warm hug from grandma. \nNina & Nona BerTemu Menu \nDevil Curry \nChilli Stuffing Curry \nInche Mintu de Kobis \nInche Kebin \nBlack Pepper Brinjal \nChap Chye \nDessert: \nSago Gula Melaka \nRM150 per pax (adults) \nRM75 per pax (kids ages 12yrs old and below)

SUMMARY:Joyful Choir of the Blind ‘Life in Echoes’
\nOpen your hearts to a moving choral experience by the Joyful Choir of the Blind\, Golden Hearts Choir and Persatuan Hearts Symphony string ensemble under the baton of Frederick Chaw. \nA project led by Wong Siew Ngan who is also the choir’s advisor\, “Joyful Choir of the Blind: Life in Echoes” is not just an ordinary choral concert. From children to seniors\, blind persons to non-blind persons\, each voice and artist on stage carries a story. Their singing is more than mere melody\, but a source of spiritual strength and a testament of a life lived. As their music fill the theatre\, it will stir something in you. \nThe Joyful Choir of the Blind is not a new ensemble. For the past 18 years\, senior citizens who are blind or have low vision have been gathering at the Malaysian Association for the Blind to showcase themselves through music. This time\, they are joined by the Golden Hearts Choir made up of the senior citizens from Rumah Charis as well as young musicians from the Hearts Symphony. \n“Joyful Choir of the Blind: Life in Echoes” shows that we are not alone in this journey. We are all very much connected just like the voices reverberating between the stage and the audience and the stories that echo from heart to heart. Hopefully\, it will continue to resonate long after the final note ends. \nThe proceeds from this one-night fundraising concert presented by Persatuan Hearts Symphony and klpac\, with the support of Yayasan Sime Darby\, will go towards sustaining the Joyful Choir of the Blind and its musical activities for blind persons.
