SUMMARY:IMMERSIO 2026
DESCRIPTION:You know PASAR. But perhaps not quite like this. \nThe smell of something frying a few stalls away. Handwritten prices on cardboard. Traders calling out\, conversations switching between languages. You went there for one thing; a few stalls later\, your hands are full. \nFor IMMERSIO 2026\, PASAR becomes the starting point for more than 100 artists and creative technologists from Malaysia and across Asia\, each offering their own take on its encounters\, exchanges\, cultures and beautiful chaos through more than 70 works spanning digital and interactive art\, projection\, sculpture\, visual works and performance. \nIMMERSIO is a biennial new media art festival by Filamen that invites audiences to experience art beyond the usual gallery setting. For its 2026 edition\, the familiar world of PASAR becomes something to look at again and experience it differently. \nAt GMBB\, Level 5 becomes the festival’s main exhibition space\, bringing together many interpretations of PASAR. Wander through the exhibition and see how artists across cultures and creative practices make something entirely their own out of a world so familiar to us. \nYou don’t need to know anything about new media art before you come\, but start with something you already know. \nYou know PASAR. Now come see what else it can become at IMMERSIO 2026. \nEvent Details: \nVenue: GMBB\, Level 5\nDate: 11 – 27 September 2026 (Closed on Mondays)\nTime: 11:00am – 8:00pm \nTicket Prices: \nEarly Bird: RM6\nGeneral Admission: RM15\nGroup Ticket (5 pax): RM55\nMultiple Entry + Exclusive Gift: RM65\nSenior Citizens\, PWD & Children under 12: Free \n💡✨ PASAR Goes Beyond GMBB ✨💡 \nIMMERSIO 2026 also unfolds across other locations in Kuala Lumpur\, with programmes at Muzium Telekom\, REXKL\, OMBAK KLCC and Tasik Titiwangsa. \nNote: This ticket is for the IMMERSIO 2026 exhibition at GMBB. Programmes at other locations may be free or separately ticketed. \nAbout IMMERSIO \nFirst launched in 2017\, IMMERSIO has grown into a platform for Southeast Asia’s digital and new media art scene\, bringing emerging and established artists together to experiment\, create and connect their works with audiences. \nOver six editions\, IMMERSIO has taken shape across spaces including Urbanscapes\, Muzium Telekom and GMBB. Now returning for its seventh edition\, the festival continues to evolve with the artists\, ideas and creative practices shaping new media across the region.

SUMMARY:Fork It: One Man’s Journey Through Food & Memories
DESCRIPTION:Moving from London in the early 1980’s\, when English cuisine wasn’t exactly known for being very exciting\, Gavin’s culture shock of his first Kopitiam breakfast served as a huge wake up call – his whole life had changed and he either had to figure out a way to get used to it or get left by the wayside. \nThrough the years\, growing up around resentment and anger and alcoholism\, Gavin gradually learns to understand who he is as a person and a mixed kid and ultimately a Malaysian through these different kinds of food\, and the experiences tied to them\, and how they have shaped him and his choices. \nFork It is a touching and often hilarious examination of identity\, family and belonging\, all seen through the eyes of a man who has in his own words ‘taken nearly forty years to realise the profundity’ of the impact that first Kopitiam breakfast had on him all this years ago.

SUMMARY:水中悦—梁嘉悦古筝独奏音乐会 Guzheng Solo Recital by Luna Leong
\nCentering on the theme of “Water”\, this concert whispering the performer’s deepest and most sincere emotions. For the performer who once journeyed far from home\, music is a journey along the waters\, tracing the current back to one’s truest self. From the misty dawn of “Morning Mist”\, to the homesick reflections awakened in “The Reed Marshes”\, and the timeless elegance of “The Pink Lotus”\, each piece tells a chapter of that journey. The sweeping grandeur of “The Great Waves of the Sea” and the quiet warmth of “Fragrant Shadows” together reflect the resilience\, transformation\, and cherished memories shaped through life abroad. \nYears spent abroad have changed the performer\, just as water is shaped by every shore it touches. Yet no matter how far the journey extends\, both water and music possess the remarkable ability to lead us back—to our origins\, to our memories\, and to ourselves. \nMay these melodies flow freely between performer and listener\, becoming\, for a moment\, the water that connects us all. \nTicketing购票咨询：\nThe Guzheng Academy马来西亚古筝学院 (010-377 6240)

SUMMARY:The Whale
DESCRIPTION:Charlie\, a reclusive English teacher\, is slowly eating himself to his death. As he inches ever closer to the inevitable\, he reaches out to his long-estranged daughter in a last-ditch effort to reconnect\, only to be confronted with the choices he had made in his past. \nDirected by Christopher Ling\, The Actor Studio Seni Teater Rakyat proudly presents Samuel D. Hunter’s critically acclaimed masterpiece\, ‘The Whale’. Originally staged in 2012\, ‘The Whale’ was adapted by Darren Aronofsky into the film of the same name in 2022 and earned two Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023\, including one for Best Actor by Brendan Fraser for his portrayal as Charlie. ‘The Whale’ is a stark but intimate exploration of faith\, redemption\, and the ever-ubiquitous human need for connection.

SUMMARY:Angin Main Teri : Teater Tradisional Kontemporari Imersif
DESCRIPTION:What if you could feel what cannot be seen? \nSomething stirs within the body. \nSomething awakens memory. \nSomething ancient returns. \nInspired by Main Teri\, a traditional healing performance from the East Coast of Malaysia\, Angin Main Teri reimagines this ritual tradition through the language of contemporary theatre. \nBlending ritual\, music\, movement\, sound\, light and immersive performance\, the work explores the unseen forces that move through the body\, connect us to memory\, and bridge the past with the present. \nSINOPSIS \nAngin Main Teri follows a journey into the mysterious relationship between the body\, memory\, ritual and the unseen. \nAt its centre is the encounter between an individual and the angin that moves within the body\, drawing fragments of memory\, inherited stories and ancestral presence into the present. As the boundaries between reality\, ritual and imagination begin to blur\, the characters are confronted with questions of identity\, belief and what it means to carry something from the past within us. \nThrough traditional ritual\, contemporary theatre\, music\, movement\, sound\, light and immersive installation\, the performance gradually transforms the theatrical space into a meeting point between the visible and invisible. \nWhat begins as an exploration of Main Teri becomes a deeper journey into what we inherit\, what we remember and what continues to live within the body. \nThe audience is not merely invited to observe this journey. They are brought closer to the experience\, becoming witnesses to a world where ritual meets theatre and the unseen becomes almost tangible. \nAre you ready to feel what cannot be seen? \nANGIN MAIN TERI\nTradition. Body. Ritual. Memory. \n📅 17 & 18 September 2026 🕣 8:30 PM 📍 BlackBox ASWARA\, Academic Building\, Level 5 \nLanguage: Bahasa Malaysia with English subtitles

SUMMARY:Getting To Know You
DESCRIPTION:A PERFORMANCE WITHOUT REHEARSALS \nNightclub. New Year’s Eve. After years apart\, Eri and Alex meet again\, wondering why there aren’t any coming-of-age stories for people in their 30s. What follows is a study of belief: in friendship\, in dark spaces\, and in the people we give our hearts to. \nTo perform this\, the two actors each night will have neither seen nor rehearsed the script before stepping onto stage\, guided only by the text and the audience. Our designers join them in the unknown\, shaping light and sound live as the performance unfolds. \nThis is Getting To Know You’s Malaysian premiere\, following its run in Singapore earlier this month.

SUMMARY:Pencil Miles and Sense of Place: Nature Journaling Session
DESCRIPTION:This fun\, relaxing practice helps us to connect more closely with nature\, and results in the creation of our own unique nature journal. Both the practice and the end product are important. The practice improves our recognition of different animal and plant species\, and our understanding of where and how they live. With time\, it also improves our ability to observe\, to draw and to write. A journal allows us to capture the moment (a sunset\, a view\, a critter\, a flower\, a fungus…) and recall observations which would otherwise be forgotten. The entries in our journal can give us inspiration for other creative projects\, such as writing\, painting\, textiles\, music\, other craft\, and so on. A nature journal can also be used to compile species sightings and other more scientific observations that are of great value to citizen science projects. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their own mat as the sessions will take place outdoors in nature 🌿🍃

SUMMARY:Novel Ecosystems: Finding Value in Invasive Species
DESCRIPTION:The introduction of invasive species is an example of that. While invasive species do bring harm to local ecosystems\, what often goes undiscussed is how some also contribute to the functioning of these ecosystems. \nJoin us in an exploratory session where we ask what it means for invasive species to exist in our local ecosystems and examine what we value in urban ecosystems. What if invasive species were not simply a driver of environmental degradation\, but rather a symptom of it? Together\, we’ll weigh the services and disservices each invasive species brings\, and consider how this understanding could inform the management of invasive species population\, or even the ecosystem itself. \nAll are welcome to attend!\nThis session will be moderated by Sirius Lui.

SUMMARY:Joyful Choir of the Blind ‘Life in Echoes’
\nOpen your hearts to a moving choral experience by the Joyful Choir of the Blind\, Golden Hearts Choir and Persatuan Hearts Symphony string ensemble under the baton of Frederick Chaw. \nA project led by Wong Siew Ngan who is also the choir’s advisor\, “Joyful Choir of the Blind: Life in Echoes” is not just an ordinary choral concert. From children to seniors\, blind persons to non-blind persons\, each voice and artist on stage carries a story. Their singing is more than mere melody\, but a source of spiritual strength and a testament of a life lived. As their music fill the theatre\, it will stir something in you. \nThe Joyful Choir of the Blind is not a new ensemble. For the past 18 years\, senior citizens who are blind or have low vision have been gathering at the Malaysian Association for the Blind to showcase themselves through music. This time\, they are joined by the Golden Hearts Choir made up of the senior citizens from Rumah Charis as well as young musicians from the Hearts Symphony. \n“Joyful Choir of the Blind: Life in Echoes” shows that we are not alone in this journey. We are all very much connected just like the voices reverberating between the stage and the audience and the stories that echo from heart to heart. Hopefully\, it will continue to resonate long after the final note ends. \nThe proceeds from this one-night fundraising concert presented by Persatuan Hearts Symphony and klpac\, with the support of Yayasan Sime Darby\, will go towards sustaining the Joyful Choir of the Blind and its musical activities for blind persons.
