Many of these artworks have long been part of Maybank’s offices and public spaces\, encountered in everyday settings rather than in a gallery context. MACE brings these works together in a curated exhibition\, allowing them to be viewed\, experienced\, and engaged with more intentionally. \nThe exhibition reflects Maybank’s role as a custodian of these artworks. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Kuala Lumpur has always been full of memories. Over the years\, and especially after the pandemic\, many familiar places such as traditional kopitiams and family-run shops have changed or disappeared\, while some have managed to endure. For those who grew up here\, these changes are not just physical; they also represent the gradual loss of personal and shared memories. \nWhispering Pixels is a physical exhibition and a digital archive that helps preserve these memories using digital technology\, allowing them to be experienced by a wider community. As many of these stories are not found in conventional museums\, the project documents meaningful personal objects and the stories behind them\, creating a living digital archive of shared memories. \nA special feature of the project is its co-creation process\, where seniors work together with artists and younger generations to document their own stories. They select meaningful objects and participate in activities such as digital photography\, scrapbooking\, and 3D scanning. This collaboration empowers seniors as co-creators of their own histories while fostering meaningful intergenerational connections. \nWhispering Pixels invites everyone to reflect on the changes around them and appreciate the memories embedded in everyday objects.  \nThis is a free walk-in programme that does not require prior bookings or registration. Simply come to the GMBB and enjoy!

DESCRIPTION:In A Path Carved By My Returning\, Ilham Alshahab invites viewers to slow down and reconsider the act of looking\, how repeated encounters with the familiar and mundane can shift in perception\, allowing what was once passed by to come into view through time and attention. \nDrawing from her experience of returning and repeating her cycling route in her neighbourhood\, the work traces her shift from restlessness to attention. Small moments that once lingered in the edges of her vision begin to take precedence\, moving from the periphery to the centre. \nA path is slowly carved through the accumulation of her visits to the periphery. Where looking again and again allows the ordinary to unfold into something expansive. \nThis body of work will be on display at The Dia Space from 1 May 2026 till 31 July 2026.

SUMMARY:Islands 人之島 (Southeast Asian Premiere)
DESCRIPTION:Earmarked by Dance Magazine Japan as someone “definitely worth anticipating”\, former Cloud Gate 2 dancer and a Bloom Prize finalist of The Rose International Dance Prize 2025\, Wang Yeu-kwn\, is fast gaining international attention. This certified fisherman is also the first Taiwanese to receive three awards at Japan’s Yokohama Dance Collection. \nWang’s Islands\, the second episode of “A Trilogy — Quest of Relationships”\, began in 2019 as part of the Cloud Gate Wanderers Project. On a quest to unearth his own story and identity\, Wang set sail for Indonesia where he reconnected with dancer Danang Pamungkas. From lone wanderers to kindred companions\, they explored the weight of bodies anchored to land and air\, where identity\, like the shifting shores\, ebbs and flows with the tides. \nThe result is a dance performance that captures the tenderness of the earth and our bond with it. Through graceful movement\, use of the topeng (Indonesian mask) and intimate storytelling\, Wang invites one to reflect on the ties between humans and the islands we call home. \nThis May\, Wang’s Islands will make its Southeast Asian premiere at klpac (Malaysia) followed by a tour to Salihara Arts Centre (Indonesia) after. It marks the fourth consecutive collaboration between the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Malaysia and klpac\, with the support of the Ministry of Culture\, Taiwan. \nIslands was co-commissioned by the National Theater & Concert Hall\, National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying)\, with residency support by Kinosaki International Arts Center and The Place\, as well as production support by FACP – Clare C. & Friends Fellowship. \nFollowing its 2024 premiere at the National Theater & Concert Hall in Taipei\, Islands was staged at The Place in London\, and the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) in Taiwan. \n臺灣編舞家王宇光，被日本舞蹈雜誌（Dance Magazine Japan） 譽為「絕對值得期待的編舞家」， 並入圍首屆英國倫敦沙德勒之井劇院「國際玫瑰舞蹈獎 – 新興編舞家獎」決選 ，其「關係三部曲」創作計畫，近年備受國際舞壇熱議。他曾任雲門2舞者，亦是名擁有漁業證書的漁人，同時獲日本橫濱舞蹈節暨舞蹈大賽「評審團優選」及「藝術家支持獎」的創作者。5月1日至3日，他將於吉隆坡表演藝術中心帶來「關係三部曲」第2部曲 ——《人之島》。 \n2019年，王宇光獲雲門流浪者計畫支持，前往印尼流浪60天，尋找漁人傳說中一條跟自己同重、刻有自己名字的魚。他與印尼舞蹈家 Danang Pamungkas 以身體和生命體驗展開對話交流，探尋身體依附土地和空氣的重量。對自身的認同像島嶼的邊界，隨潮汐而浮動。從證明自己到攜手相伴，這趟身體漂泊的旅程，我們瞥見島嶼在柔軟與堅韌之間承載人的力量。 \n也許，到了島嶼之外，我們才開始認識了我們。 \n本次亦為《人之島》東南亞首演，隨後將巡演至印尼Salihara藝術中心，這也是吉隆坡表演藝術中心及駐馬來西亞臺北經濟文化辦事處繼《路呐》、《魔幻京劇》及《感謝公主》之後，第四度聯合呈獻臺灣優質演出，獲臺灣文化部支持。 \n本作由臺灣國家兩廳院及衛武營國家藝術文化中心共同委託製作，日本城崎國際藝術中心、英國倫敦 The Place 當代舞蹈中心駐村支持，以及 FACP 亞洲文化推展聯盟 Clare C. & Friends Fellowship 製作支持。
