SUMMARY:Caliban (Theatre)
DESCRIPTION:THE TEMPEST tells the story of Prospero the ex-Duke of Milan\, also a magician who\, together with his daughter Miranda was exiled on an island for twelve years. On this island were Ariel a gentle spirit and Caliban\, a “monster” to whom belongs the island. \nThrough magic and the help of Ariel\, Prospero is able to cause a storm and wreck the ship upon which those who had usurped his dukedom in Milan were bound for home from Carthage\, after the wedding of the King of Naples\, Alonso. Alonso twelve years earlier had assisted Prospero’s brother Antonio to take over the dukedom of Milan. \nIn the wreck\, the castaways include Antonio\, Alonso’s son Ferdinand\, his butler\, jester and counselor. With all his enemies in one “corral” Prospero turns on more of his magic\, bringing the castaways who were unaware of one another’s presence on the island\, into his orbit with a fantastical show. Alonso is united with his son Ferdinand whom he thought had perished in the tempest and all are forgiven. \nOn the outset Prospero seems heroic and magnanimous yet he cheats Ariel out of an early retirement and enslaves Caliban on his own island by usurping all the best foods and sights of the island. He has an appetite for revenge against his enemies yet for selfish reasons (Miranda’s love for Ferdinand) forgives them all. \nCaliban on the other hand seems a “monster” for attacking Miranda but is a sensitive individual who feels music in the air\, loves Nature and is proud of his island. He is heroic in the manner in which he resists the command of Prospero to become his permanent slave.

SUMMARY:Lungs (Theatre)
DESCRIPTION:Directed by Dinesh Kumar Maganathan\, LUNGS\, written by renowned British playwright Duncan Macmillan\, follows a couple as they navigate one conversation that stretches across years – sometimes linear\, sometimes fractured\, always brutally honest. When they consider having a child\, the discussion spirals into questions of climate guilt\, carbon footprints\, personal ethics\, commitment\, and the fragility of modern relationships. \nAs Malaysia grapples with climate concerns\, rising mental health challenges\, and shifting family structures\, LUNGS offers a precise\, unflinching mirror. It speaks to a new generation navigating adulthood in uncertain times. More than that\, the play presents a brutally honest take on a flawed relationship between a man and a woman\, centred around a very important decision – whether to have a child or not. \nScenes shift instantly through dialogue and performance\, creating an immersive\, breathless theatrical experience. \nLUNGS received its first performance at the Studio Theatre\, Washington D.C. USA on 28th September 2011\, directed by Aaron Posner in a rolling world Premiere with Paines Plough/Sheffield Crucible. LUNGS was first staged in KL in 2014\, directed by Alexis Wong and featured Erin Marie and Jeremy Ooi.

SUMMARY:Forget Me Not
DESCRIPTION:Forget Me Not is a theatrical concert that reimagines the identity of the twenty-first-century classical musician. Framed as a reunion between two friends\, Howard the oboist and producer\, and Akkra the pianist and composer\, the performance becomes both a memory and a manifesto. It recalls what first connected them\, the shared passion for traditional arts\, and reflects on the ongoing struggle to adapt\, survive\, and remain meaningful in a rapidly changing world. The title “Forget Me Not”\, takes inspiration from the delicate flower\, symbolizing love\, fidelity\, devotion\, and fragility. \nThrough piano and oboe music\, theatrical acting\, and multimedia\, the two artists retrace their divergent journeys: one shaped by creative production and community engagement\, the other by performance and artistic inquiry. Together they rediscover the beauty of the old\, the expressive depth of classical repertoire\, and the urgency of the new through innovative media\, cross-disciplinary storytelling\, and new ways of performing and composing. The concert asks what it means to stay musical when the industry no longer guarantees permanence. It celebrates the evolving possibilities of the classical artist as performer\, composer\, storyteller\, educator\, technologist\, and producer\, and affirms that artistry today flourishes through connection.
