SUMMARY:THROWN by Jodi Gray
DESCRIPTION:Thrown is a haunting\, multi-sensory solo performance about memory\, childhood and the moment we are irreversibly changed. Written by Jodi Gray and directed by Gavin Yap\, the play follows a child psychologist who turns to old audio recordings — of her own childhood and her patient’s — in an attempt to understand herself. \nBut as she listens\, replays\, and listens again\, the recordings begin to blur\, and so does the line between whose memory belongs to whom.\nThe production operates on a simple but unsettling philosophy: that we are all ‘thrown’ into this world\, with no say over the circumstances we’re born into\, and that our lives are shaped by specific\, often unremarkable moments where we are thrown again — out of childhood\, and into everything that follows. Thrown explores that exact threshold\, built around a live\, immersive soundscape designed to pull the audience into the same disorienting territory as its central character. \nAt times funny\, at times quietly devastating\, and always unpredictable\, Thrown is carried entirely by veteran Malaysian actress Sofia Jane\, in her first-ever one-woman show after more than three decades on screen. For 90 minutes\, Sofia Jane doesn’t just perform a role — she holds an entire audience inside one woman’s unraveling sense of what’s hers to remember.A career-first performance from one of Malaysia’s most respected actresses\, directed by one of the country’s most acclaimed storytellers — Thrown plays a strictly limited run at The Studio\, JCPAC.

SUMMARY:Blaze Double Bill:The Wardrobe & You 2.0
DESCRIPTION:Blaze Double Bill: The Wardrobe & YOU 2.0 \nTwo plays. Two worlds. One company of young performers. \nThis November\, Ignite Theatre’s Blaze company takes to the stage for a double bill of contemporary theatre exploring identity\, belonging\, friendship and what it means to grow up in a world that is constantly changing. \nSam Holcroft’s The Wardrobe takes us on a journey through British history\, all from within the confines of a single wardrobe. Across different generations\, young people step behind the same doors to hide\, escape\, play and confront the world outside. As history changes around them\, the wardrobe remains\, quietly holding their stories. \nAlys Metcalf’s YOU 2.0 brings us firmly into the present\, exploring friendship\, identity and the pressure to become a different version of ourselves. Funny\, honest and sharply observed\, the play asks what happens when the desire to change begins to challenge who we really are. \nTogether\, these two plays place young people at the centre of the story. Different characters. Different moments in time. Different pressures. But the same search for identity\, connection and a place to belong. \nPerformed by Ignite Theatre’s Blaze company\, aged 12–16\, this double bill marks the culmination of a term of creating\, rehearsing and refining work for a public audience. \nTwo plays. One company. One evening.

SUMMARY:David Glass’s TEMPEST
DESCRIPTION:As we come to the final production of KL Shakespeare Players’ 15th anniversary year\, we would like to invite you and your students to DAVID GLASS’ TEMPEST\, one of the most distinctive and engaging productions in our repertoire. \nFirst premiered at klpac in 2019\, the production was devised with UK physical theatre pioneer David Glass. It began with Shakespeare’s The Tempest\, but what emerged from the devising process is not a conventional staging of Shakespeare’s play. \nThe production keeps the central framework and key characters: Prospero and his daughter Miranda live on an island with Caliban and Ariel\, until Antonio\, Sebastian and Ferdinand arrive following a shipwreck. From there\, however\, the story takes its own unexpected direction\, with a very different context\, new relationships\, twists and surprises. \nWith just seven actors and a simple set\, the production uses movement\, music\, lighting and smoke to create a highly theatrical\, cinematic experience. \nFor this revival\, Lim Kien Lee directs\, closely following the original staging created with David Glass in 2019. \nTHE STORY\nSet in the last days of humanity\, this production follows Prospero\, an alchemist and shaman who holds the world’s knowledge in his beloved books. \nHe shelters his adolescent daughter Miranda on an isolated island\, where she believes that her father and the island creatures\, Caliban and Ariel\, are the only inhabitants of the destroyed Earth. \nUntil she encounters other human beings. \nA great tempest washes Antonio\, Sebastian and Ferdinand onto Prospero’s island. As these survivors encounter Prospero\, Miranda and the strange inhabitants of the island\, long-buried secrets begin to surface. \nSo begins a story of humankind’s last days.

SUMMARY:Butterfly Lovers The Musical 《梁山伯与祝英台-音乐剧》
DESCRIPTION:Butterfly Lovers – The Musical reimagines one of Chinese’s most enduring folk legends as a sweeping contemporary stage spectacle. Set in ancient China\, it follows Zhu Yingtai\, a defiant young woman who disguises herself as a man to pursue education\, and Liang Shanbo\, the scholarly companion who becomes her soulmate. Bound by filial duty and societal constraints\, their tragic earthly love culminates in a poetic transformation that has captivated local and foreign audiences since 2006. Dama Asia’s 20th-anniversary revival blends traditional Eastern melodies with Broadway-calibre orchestrations\, bringing fresh emotional resonance to this timeless tale of love and defiance.
