SUMMARY:A Christmas Tale by Maria School of Dancing & The Classical Ballet Centre
DESCRIPTION:A Christmas Tale: A Journey to Christmas Land \nThis enchanting ballet unfolds in two acts\, tracing the magical dream-journey of two children on Christmas Eve. The production is a rich tapestry of classical and character dance\, celebrating the wonder of the season through a series of vibrant and diverse performances. \nAct I: The Dream Begins – Arrival and Transformation \nThe story begins not with sleep\, but with inspiration. At a bustling Christmas Bazaar\, the children witness a performance that ignites their imagination\, planting the seed of the dream to come. As they slumber\, this seed blossoms into full-blown fantasy\, guided by two mystical Fairies who transport them to Christmas Land. \nThis realm is a village personified\, where “joy is the native language.” Their arrival is a communal celebration. They are greeted not by passive observers\, but by the land’s vibrant inhabitants: the spirited Velvendra the Reindeers and the graceful Seraphina the Gazelles\, whose dances embody the wild and elegant soul of this world. The glamorous Pixies and Aurenfolks then extend a personal invitation to the celebration\, an invitation that leads to a pivotal moment of magic: the children themselves transform first into precise Toy Soldiers and then into ethereal Little Angels\, signifying their full immersion into the dream. \nThe act unfolds as a pageant of ensemble beauty. The Fairies\, Pixies\, and Aurenfolks perform a delicate Flower Dance\, creating a scene of pure grace. This is dramatically contrasted by the powerful and mystic arrival of the Prince\, a commanding magician figure who shifts the atmosphere with his presence. The act concludes on a note of serene wonder\, with the Seraphinas and Little Angels forming a peaceful tableau\, their hearts full of anticipation for the festivities to come. \nAct II: The Grand Christmas Celebration – A Global Festival of Dance \nThe second act elevates the celebration into a global spectacle\, as the Christmas Spirits dance amidst snow and ice. The living beings of Christmas Land present a “spectacular series of dances” in honor of their guests\, each number a distinct cultural showcase: \n● The Cossack’s Hearth (Russian Dance): A dynamic and powerful display of athleticism and strength by two male dancers. \n● Teacup Tilly (Chinese Dance): A demonstration of delicate precision and controlled\, intricate movements. \n● Snow Rose (Spanish Dance): A performance full of fiery passion and dramatic flair. \n● The Peacock’s Mirage (Arabian Dance): An enigmatic and graceful illusion\, evoking mystery and sensuality. \n● Confetti Mouse & The Polichinelles’ Frolic: Playful\, whimsical\, and cheerful ensemble pieces that bring lighthearted joy. \n● Crystal Flutes: A light and sparkling ensemble piece\, suggesting the shimmering of ice and snow. \nThe celebration then spotlights the technical prowess of the lead dancers in a series of stunning solo variations\, including the enchanting Sugarplum Fairy (Xun Huez)\, the commanding Prince (Bryan)\, and technically brilliant pieces from Macy (Paquita) and Joyce (Coppélia). \nThe ballet culminates in a glorious finale with the entire cast\, followed by a heartfelt Award Ceremony that acknowledges the dedication of the performers\, blending the magic of the stage with real-world recognition. The overall experience is promised as a “magical Christmas journeythat will leave your heart aglow\,” positioning it as a perfect holiday tradition.

\nAfter eight consecutive sold-out performances that deeply moved countless audiences\, Symphony Theatre returns in triumph to once again present the stage play Tearless Sky to drama lovers. \nAdapted from a classic romance novel\, Tearless Sky is a touching yet powerful theatrical work that delicately balances tenderness with emotional intensity. \nBetween tears and smiles\, it tells a story of growth\, choice\, love\, and the grace of letting go. \nJessC stars as the female lead\, portraying Du Xiaomeng — a woman strong at heart\, yet marked by quiet fractures beneath her resilience. The male leads are jointly portrayed by Isaac Cheah and Terry Lim\, who bring to life two contrasting expressions of love and responsibility: one restrained and introspective\, the other passionate and unwavering. Directed by Lee Ann Tien and performed alongside a cast of seasoned actors\, the production unfolds with mounting emotional depth. Intertwined destinies and layered relationships generate a force that is both powerful and gentle\, drawing every audience member into its emotional embrace. \nThe play moves at a tight\, compelling pace\, filled with dramatic turns while maintaining a deep undercurrent of warmth and sensitivity. Passion\, emotion\, humor\, and moments of tears are seamlessly interwoven. With dynamic LED stage visuals and immersive sound design\, the production creates the sensation of stepping directly into the story itself. In those moments\, the theatre lights illuminate not only the stage\, but also the quiet corners of the audience’s inner world. \nTearless Sky is more than a visual and auditory experience — it is a journey of music and soul. Symphony Theatre has specially commissioned four original songs for this production\, each closely tied to the emotional pulse of the narrative. Through melody and lyrics\, these songs carry unspoken thoughts\, unexpressed love\, and the unyielding light of hope. \nThe title song “Tearless Sky” is lyrically written and performed by JessC\, with composition by Yi Jet Qi and Ng Cheon Chet. Its gentle yet persistent flow resonates deeply\, lingering long after the final note fades. The insert songs “Be With Me” and “Eternity” are passionately performed by Isaac Cheah\, who plays Dai Aaron\, and are produced and written by award-winning American musician and actor John Lee\, infusing the character with emotional depth and radiance. Meanwhile\, Terry Lim lends his sincere and heartfelt voice to “Happy Girl\,” singing of love as protection\, devotion\, and selfless fulfillment. \nThese four sincere works are like letters written to life itself — softly placed into the hearts of the audience. They remind us that love can be an embrace\, and sometimes\, an act of letting go. When light remains in our hearts\, the sky will no longer hold tears. \n“From not knowing to understanding\, from holding on to learning how to let go. Between tomorrow and the unexpected\, none of us knows which will arrive first. When we learn to bless and release\, life leaves no regrets — and beneath that blue sky\, we find a tearless sky that belongs to us all.”

SUMMARY:God’s Waiting Room
DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss this rare chance to catch legends Faridah Merican\, Anne James and Patrick Teoh in a brand-new play by Joe Hasham OAM. \n——————————————— \nMeet Miss Effie\, Mrs Pansy and Mr Chong\, three strangers living out their Golden Years in a retirement home. \nThis new play by Joe Hasham OAM is\, at turns\, outrageously hilarious and a real heart-tugger as the trio forms an unlikely bond while dealing with their less than cooperative bodies and the never-ending waiting… waiting for visitors that do not show up\, waiting for their next test results\, waiting for the inevitable. \nIn between all that waiting\, life goes on. They reminisce their firsts and long-gone loved ones\, recall good ol’ times like having bak kut teh at the old Malayan Banking HQ in the wee hours and annoy the hell out of each other. \nGod’s Waiting Room is a no holds barred look at the later years of life – is it a chance to take stock or to have one last wild fling? Either way\, join us for the ride. \nC’est la vie.

SUMMARY:变形记 Metamorphosis
\nAdapted from Franz Kafka’s classic novella\, Metamorphosis is a modern stage production that combines physical theatre\, drama\, and visual storytelling. The story begins when Gregor Samsa wakes up one morning to find he has transformed into an insect. Once the pillar of his family\, he is slowly abandoned by society\, his kin\, and eventually his own sense of self. \nPerformed in Mandarin and Hakka with English surtitles\, this production is a collaboration between independent artists from Sabah and Kuala Lumpur. Through the interplay of realism and symbolism\, the play explores not just the “loneliness of a monster\,” but the silent despair and alienation of modern life under the weight of systemic expectations.

SUMMARY:Mary/am
DESCRIPTION:Mary/am follows three girls in a small-town Perak convent school: Maryam\, Durga\, and Grace. Their school prizes perfection and the Best Student of the Year award\, but beneath a wisteria tree they start to question the rules\, the lessons\, and the expectations on their bodies\, faith\, and hearts.
