SUMMARY:A Christmas Tale by Maria School of Dancing & The Classical Ballet Centre
DESCRIPTION:A Christmas Tale: A Journey to Christmas Land \nThis enchanting ballet unfolds in two acts\, tracing the magical dream-journey of two children on Christmas Eve. The production is a rich tapestry of classical and character dance\, celebrating the wonder of the season through a series of vibrant and diverse performances. \nAct I: The Dream Begins – Arrival and Transformation \nThe story begins not with sleep\, but with inspiration. At a bustling Christmas Bazaar\, the children witness a performance that ignites their imagination\, planting the seed of the dream to come. As they slumber\, this seed blossoms into full-blown fantasy\, guided by two mystical Fairies who transport them to Christmas Land. \nThis realm is a village personified\, where “joy is the native language.” Their arrival is a communal celebration. They are greeted not by passive observers\, but by the land’s vibrant inhabitants: the spirited Velvendra the Reindeers and the graceful Seraphina the Gazelles\, whose dances embody the wild and elegant soul of this world. The glamorous Pixies and Aurenfolks then extend a personal invitation to the celebration\, an invitation that leads to a pivotal moment of magic: the children themselves transform first into precise Toy Soldiers and then into ethereal Little Angels\, signifying their full immersion into the dream. \nThe act unfolds as a pageant of ensemble beauty. The Fairies\, Pixies\, and Aurenfolks perform a delicate Flower Dance\, creating a scene of pure grace. This is dramatically contrasted by the powerful and mystic arrival of the Prince\, a commanding magician figure who shifts the atmosphere with his presence. The act concludes on a note of serene wonder\, with the Seraphinas and Little Angels forming a peaceful tableau\, their hearts full of anticipation for the festivities to come. \nAct II: The Grand Christmas Celebration – A Global Festival of Dance \nThe second act elevates the celebration into a global spectacle\, as the Christmas Spirits dance amidst snow and ice. The living beings of Christmas Land present a “spectacular series of dances” in honor of their guests\, each number a distinct cultural showcase: \n● The Cossack’s Hearth (Russian Dance): A dynamic and powerful display of athleticism and strength by two male dancers. \n● Teacup Tilly (Chinese Dance): A demonstration of delicate precision and controlled\, intricate movements. \n● Snow Rose (Spanish Dance): A performance full of fiery passion and dramatic flair. \n● The Peacock’s Mirage (Arabian Dance): An enigmatic and graceful illusion\, evoking mystery and sensuality. \n● Confetti Mouse & The Polichinelles’ Frolic: Playful\, whimsical\, and cheerful ensemble pieces that bring lighthearted joy. \n● Crystal Flutes: A light and sparkling ensemble piece\, suggesting the shimmering of ice and snow. \nThe celebration then spotlights the technical prowess of the lead dancers in a series of stunning solo variations\, including the enchanting Sugarplum Fairy (Xun Huez)\, the commanding Prince (Bryan)\, and technically brilliant pieces from Macy (Paquita) and Joyce (Coppélia). \nThe ballet culminates in a glorious finale with the entire cast\, followed by a heartfelt Award Ceremony that acknowledges the dedication of the performers\, blending the magic of the stage with real-world recognition. The overall experience is promised as a “magical Christmas journeythat will leave your heart aglow\,” positioning it as a perfect holiday tradition.
