SUMMARY:Konsert Dewan Kuala Lumpur Siri 2/2026
DESCRIPTION:This programme invites audiences on a musical journey across contrasting styles\, colours\, and traditions within the chamber music repertoire. From the rhythmic energy and vibrant character of Florent Schmitt’s Ghanaia to the graceful conversational writing of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Duets No. 7 & 4 from 12 Duets\, K.487\, the works highlight both virtuosity and the delicate interplay between instruments. \nThe programme continues with the refined sonorities of Marcel Tournier’s Quatre Préludes\, Op.16 and Woo’s Quartet Lyrique No.1\, where lyrical expression and subtle textures unfold through the ensemble. A moment of contemplation follows with Fukuda’s The Sonnet of Prayer\, a work imbued with reflective and poetic qualities. \nConcluding the programme\, Susato Suites draws inspiration from Renaissance dance music\, bringing a lively and spirited close to the concert. Together\, these works celebrate the expressive richness of chamber music and the artistry of collaborative performance. \n—————————————————————————- \nProgram ini membawa pendengar menyelusuri pelbagai warna dan gaya dalam repertoar muzik kamar. SUMMARY:Shakespeare Demystified: THE MERCHANT OF VENICE
DESCRIPTION:Shakespeare Demystified: The Merchant of Venice marks KL Shakespeare Players’ first major production of 2026\, presented as part of the company’s 15th year of touring and theatre-making. \nThis 100-minute abridged production presents Shakespeare’s text through carefully selected key scenes\, supported by clear narrative transitions in contemporary English. Students do not need prior knowledge of the play. By the end of the performance\, they will have a strong grasp of the story\, characters\, conflicts\, and central themes—an approach that has consistently been praised by teachers as both engaging and pedagogically effective. \nOur production highlights the tension between justice and mercy–between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. Between revenge and forgiveness. It also explores how unkindness begets unkindness and how friendship engenders love. All this is set against a backdrop of appearance versus reality. Of course\, as in most Shakespeare plays\, family\, home\, and belonging sit at the heart of the work. \nWhen The Merchant of Venice was last staged by KLSP in 2016\, it was performed 38 times for schools and public audiences across Langkawi\, Penang\, Seremban\, and Johor Bahru. The production brought Shakespeare’s tragiccomedy vividly to life\, resonating with audiences through its humour\, emotional depth\, and enduring questions of justice\, mercy\, and humanity. \nSYNOPSIS\nBassanio hopes to win the hand of Portia\, a rich and intelligent woman\, but he needs money to do so. He turns to his close friend Antonio\, the Merchant of Venice\, for help. Out of friendship\, Antonio borrows three thousand ducats from Shylock\, a moneylender. When Antonio cannot repay the loan by the agreed date\, Shylock insists on the bond’s terrifying price: a pound of Antonio’s flesh…

SUMMARY:Ballet Illuminations 2026
DESCRIPTION:Singapore Ballet returns to klpac with Ballet Illuminations\, opening the evening with the all-time favourite Paquita\, a sparkling showcase of classical virtuosity. The programme then moves into neoclassical territory\, reflecting the company’s tradition of presenting both classical and contemporary works—previous editions have featured audience favourites such as Cinderella Act 2\, Piano Concerto No. 2\, Op. 102\, and neo-classical gems by Choo-San Goh. \nThis year’s performance expands with two compelling additions from the company’s repertoire: Shadow’s Edge by Ma Cong — highlighting his bold\, contemporary choreographic voice. Evening Voices by Tim Rushton — an atmospheric\, sculptural work blending classical lines with modern expression. \nTogether\, these works deliver a dynamic evening that journeys from classical brilliance to contemporary nuance\, offering Malaysian audiences a concentrated taste of Singapore Ballet’s artistic range. \nBallet Illuminations 2026 is presented by Singapore Ballet and The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre\, supported by YTL Corporation Berhad and the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.
