SUMMARY:Connecting the City\, Cycle the River
DESCRIPTION:The River of Life project was launched in 2011\, with the purpose of reconnecting the city\, river and people. One of the features of the project is a 10.7km cycling path that starts from an entry point adjacent to PWTC LRT station and connects to the other end at Brickfields. \nThe purpose of the ride is to give fellow participants who have not cycled the entire route a firsthand experience and see for themselves how this can be part of their daily lives. \nThe route will start from Menara DBKL 1\, continuing down the River of Life\, then connecting to Old Klang Road which will then lead to the Klang River Festival. Participants will be able to experience Klang River Festival before heading back to DBKL. \nThe cycling ride is open to 10 pax only. Bring your own bicycle and explore the river! \nMeeting poing: Menara DBKL 1 \nParticipants to bring own: \n1) bicycle \n2) wear bicycle helmet* \n3) bring own drinking water \n4) join the ride at their own risk \n*Participants without helmets will NOT be allowed to join the ride

SUMMARY:Pencil Miles and Sense of Place: Nature Journaling Session
DESCRIPTION:This fun\, relaxing practice helps us to connect more closely with nature\, and results in the creation of our own unique nature journal. Both the practice and the end product are important. The practice improves our recognition of different animal and plant species\, and our understanding of where and how they live. With time\, it also improves our ability to observe\, to draw and to write. A journal allows us to capture the moment (a sunset\, a view\, a critter\, a flower\, a fungus…) and recall observations which would otherwise be forgotten. The entries in our journal can give us inspiration for other creative projects\, such as writing\, painting\, textiles\, music\, other craft\, and so on. A nature journal can also be used to compile species sightings and other more scientific observations that are of great value to citizen science projects. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their own mat as the sessions will take place outdoors in nature 🌿🍃

SUMMARY:Novel Ecosystems: Finding Value in Invasive Species
DESCRIPTION:The introduction of invasive species is an example of that. While invasive species do bring harm to local ecosystems\, what often goes undiscussed is how some also contribute to the functioning of these ecosystems. \nJoin us in an exploratory session where we ask what it means for invasive species to exist in our local ecosystems and examine what we value in urban ecosystems. What if invasive species were not simply a driver of environmental degradation\, but rather a symptom of it? Together\, we’ll weigh the services and disservices each invasive species brings\, and consider how this understanding could inform the management of invasive species population\, or even the ecosystem itself. \nAll are welcome to attend!\nThis session will be moderated by Sirius Lui.

SUMMARY:Between Resting: A Performance by Kien Faye
DESCRIPTION:Rather than treating the river as a destination\, Faye approaches it as a living route where water\, plants\, insects\, architecture\, and human presence coexist in quiet negotiation. Benches\, shaded ponds\, river sounds\, and a scaffold extending towards the water become moments to pause\, observe\, and respond. \nAn experimental contemporary trance practitioner and performer based in Kuala Lumpur\, Faye’s practice is rooted in Javanese and Malaysian trance traditions. Through movement\, voice\, natural materials\, and ritual actions\, he explores relationships between body\, land\, memory\, and the environments we inhabit. His performances are less about spectacle than about cultivating heightened awareness and allowing the site to shape the body in real time. \nIn Between Resting\, walking becomes a slow choreography of listening. Each pause becomes an encounter\, each encounter a gentle offering. The work invites audiences to reconsider the rhythms of the city and the river\, and to discover that even while passing through\, we may still find a place to rest.
