DESCRIPTION:The very first competition of its kind that will see 200 participants joget at Merdeka Square for 90 minutes straight\, continuing until the last person is standing. In the final 15 minutes\, judges will evaluate the remaining dancers and award the winner a prize of RM3\,000. Throughout the competition\, the rakyat is encouraged to join in and joget along to live music at the sides of the contest and of course\, free to stop if they feel tired. \nA special surprise will take place midway through the contest\, as traditional joget music gives way to contemporary popular songs by local Malaysian artists\, before returning once more to classic rhythms. By blending traditional dance with modern sounds\, the competition presents a fresh vision that encapsulates the event’s theme of Memory and Tomorrow\, kicking off the festival with a bang.\nRegister now! \nPertandingan pertama seumpamanya ini bakal menyaksikan 200 peserta berjoget tanpa henti selama 90 minit di Dataran Merdeka\, berterusan sehingga tinggal peserta terakhir yang masih berdiri. DESCRIPTION:“Don’t lose your A-PEEL!” \nTwisting Shakespeare with polo\, parties\, pranks and pickles-a-plenty in 1930s Penang. \nA very special production for KLSP as this show features a cast of 17 actors\, including both veterans and newbies – all of whom have received our training in performing Shakespeare. \nAlthough this show only use Shakespeare’s text (there will be subtitles in BM and Chinese)\, it is presented within the flamboyant setting of a polo club in 1930s Penang. Here\, Leonato is a Chinese tycoon\, entertaining royalty at his palatial home\, where he is thrilled to discover that the champion polo player wants to marry his daughter. As the partying continues into the weekend\, tricks are played and misunderstandings ensue\, turning laughter into tears until the security guards uncover a dastardly plot\, and finally a happier wedding (or two) can take place. \n“Much Ado About Nothing” can appear to simply be an hilarious tale of pranks and romance\, but it also presents the struggles of a family dealing with the shame of their daughter being falsely accused. The Malaysian setting of our production helps to highlight the relevance of this story for Asian families\, while its placement in the 1930s creates some reflective distance to these issues. \nHighlights:\n– 17 actors\n– Shakespeare’s text only but with BM/Chinese subtitles\n– set in 1930’s polo club in Penang\n– many scenes of hilarious physical comedy\n– includes music and dancing\n– mix of live action and projected film\n– presents issues relevant to young people – friendship vs romance\, misunderstand and …

DESCRIPTION:Earmarked by Dance Magazine Japan as someone “definitely worth anticipating”\, former Cloud Gate 2 dancer and a Bloom Prize finalist of The Rose International Dance Prize 2025\, Wang Yeu-kwn\, is fast gaining international attention. This certified fisherman is also the first Taiwanese to receive three awards at Japan’s Yokohama Dance Collection. \nWang’s Islands\, the second episode of “A Trilogy — Quest of Relationships”\, began in 2019 as part of the Cloud Gate Wanderers Project. On a quest to unearth his own story and identity\, Wang set sail for Indonesia where he reconnected with dancer Danang Pamungkas. From lone wanderers to kindred companions\, they explored the weight of bodies anchored to land and air\, where identity\, like the shifting shores\, ebbs and flows with the tides. \nThe result is a dance performance that captures the tenderness of the earth and our bond with it. Through graceful movement\, use of the topeng (Indonesian mask) and intimate storytelling\, Wang invites one to reflect on the ties between humans and the islands we call home. \nThis May\, Wang’s Islands will make its Southeast Asian premiere at klpac (Malaysia) followed by a tour to Salihara Arts Centre (Indonesia) after.
