DESCRIPTION:Between dance and storytelling\, and all while manipulating sounds and clay\, the actor-sculptors will tell a story of the fables\, and take you on a journey through time and space. It is as if they are going back in time\, digging into the origins of the first stories\, perhaps even before words\, borders\, rules and obstacles existed.  \nAs the stories bring us together\, the actors make and create shapes: a donkey\, a turtle\, a cow\, a tree “that thought it was stronger than all”\, a frog\, an elephant\, a man in a canoe. \nAnd what if the first fable was born of clay? Artists Aurélien Zouki and Eric Deniaud knead and continue to create\, inviting us to travel with them through time and space\, on a poetic expedition into the strata of speech.

By weaving together the fluid lines of calligraphy\, the disciplined energy of martial arts\, and the grace of dance\, Thong transforms drumming into a spatial and poetic language that transcends mere rhythm. \nThis showcase features works refined over a decade of competition and composition. The performance brings together talented drummers aged 15 to 25 from the Seremban Chung Hua High School and Sunway University 24 Festive Drums teams. These young performers are both students and inheritors\, breathing new life into a traditional legacy. \nOn stage\, every strike is a breath and every rhythm a moving landscape. Set in Lake Gardens\, filled with tikars and tilam toto\, an urban park transforms into a temporary “kampung” room – a place to wander\, settle\, lie down and rest. \nThis is an intersection of installation\, projection\, soundscape\, and storytelling. Participants enter a carefully composed sonic and visual environment where intimate dream confessions from Kuala Lumpur blend with meditative\, healing frequencies. The work unfolds in two acts: (1) communal unwinding and (2) individual slumber. Together\, these phases dissolve the boundary between stranger and kin\, forming a rare moment of collective stillness. \n*Audiences are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and bring their own pillow.

The family narratives in which she has long believed begin to loosen under scrutiny and questioning – what once seemed like a clear chain of responsibility gradually dissolves\, revealing choices and temperaments that cannot be fully attributed to any single generation. \nThis is neither a letter of accusation to the previous generation nor a ritual of reconciliation. \nRather\, Oi-Jia unfolds as a suspended moment – when we can no longer hand our pain entirely to those before us\, are we still willing to take responsibility for who we are in the present? \nWith a minimalist stage and the symbolic presence of a spittoon as its central object\, the work allows the audience to witness how narrative collapses and reassembles within a single individual. DESCRIPTION:Following January Low as a solo performer whose role has evolved from dancer to mother\, this work asks what it means to be a contemporary female practitioner of Indian classical dance today. It challenges both Low’s and the audience’s perceptions of the Indian classical dancer by foregrounding the unseen physical discipline required to sustain an art form without the certainty of the stage. Pending also examines how Odissi adapts in the digital age\, where learning is slowed\, guidance is virtual\, and feedback unfolds over weeks rather than moments. \nAbout the artist:\nJanuary Low is a Malaysian mid-career dance artist who specialises in Odissi and has been practising for close to 30 years. She spent her formative training in Sutra Dance Theatre and toured extensively with the company for over a decade. Her departure from Sutra in 2009 initiated a process of deep self-inquiry affecting how she chooses to share Odissi with her audience today. \nOver the years Low has been gently observing the rhythm between dance and life and how Odissi continues to exist in her daily South-East Asian female body. As a mother of three\, she continues to challenge themes of agency\, objectification and commodification of the Indian Classical Dancer.

DESCRIPTION:Malaysia is home to four otter species\, including the smooth-coated otter\, which is increasingly seen in urban waterways. Their return to certain city rivers signals ecological recovery – yet threats such as habitat fragmentation\, pollution\, illegal pet trade\, and human-wildlife conflict remain pressing. Otters are more than charismatic mammals; they are indicators of river health and environmental governance. \nAn expert public talk examining how conservation science\, urban development and community action intersect to shape the future of otters in Malaysia. This session explores how river ecosystems can thrive even alongside growing skylines. \nWhat Audiences Can Expect \nLatest research findings on Malaysia’s otter population\nCase studies highlighting coexistence challenges\nConservation policy insights and enforcement realities\nPractical pathways for public involvement\n Live Q&A with field experts\nThe talk balances scientific depth with accessible storytelling\, making it engaging for both professionals and curious members of the public. \nFeaturing Malaysian conservation scientists\, wildlife researchers\, and environmental advocates working across riverine and urban ecosystems from the Malaysia Otter Network (MON). MON aims to promote otters as the ambassadors of wetland conservation\, improve the status of the three otter species\, namely the Hairy-nosed Otter\, Smooth-coated Otter\, and Asian Small-clawed Otter\, which are categorised as globally threatened\, and address the immediate threats that the otters are facing\, such as wetland habitat degradation\, illegal pet trading\, and human-otter conflict. \nThis talk is led by the Malaysian Otter Network\, speakers to be announced soon.

The project adopts speculative\, time-based interventions as a way of reimagining how underutilised urban spaces can support cultural exchange and creative economies. \n——————————————————————— \nBangunan Pak Peng\, located along Jalan Petaling in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown\, is a mid-20th-century commercial building associated with Cheong Yoke Choy (Pak Peng)\, a prominent figure in the city’s early entertainment and property sectors. The building functioned primarily as a small retail and commercial hub\, housing modest shops and services that supported the everyday economy of Chinatown. Today\, as many units sit underused\, Bangunan Pak Peng stands as a reminder of the area’s once-vibrant commercial life and its ongoing transition within the city’s urban landscape.
