DESCRIPTION:The very first competition of its kind that will see 200 participants joget at Merdeka Square for 90 minutes straight\, continuing until the last person is standing. In the final 15 minutes\, judges will evaluate the remaining dancers and award the winner a prize of RM3\,000. Throughout the competition\, the rakyat is encouraged to join in and joget along to live music at the sides of the contest and of course\, free to stop if they feel tired. \nA special surprise will take place midway through the contest\, as traditional joget music gives way to contemporary popular songs by local Malaysian artists\, before returning once more to classic rhythms. By blending traditional dance with modern sounds\, the competition presents a fresh vision that encapsulates the event’s theme of Memory and Tomorrow\, kicking off the festival with a bang.\nRegister now! \nPertandingan pertama seumpamanya ini bakal menyaksikan 200 peserta berjoget tanpa henti selama 90 minit di Dataran Merdeka\, berterusan sehingga tinggal peserta terakhir yang masih berdiri. Dalam 15 minit terakhir\, para juri akan menilai peserta yang masih bertahan dan seterusnya menobatkan pemenang dengan hadiah wang tunai RM3\,000. Sepanjang pertandingan berlangsung\, orang ramai turut digalakkan untuk menyertai dan berjoget bersama iringan muzik secara langsung di sekitar kawasan pertandingan; para peserta juga bebas untuk berhenti sekiranya berasa penat. \nSatu kejutan istimewa akan berlangsung di pertengahan acara apabila muzik joget tradisional beralih kepada lagu-lagu popular kontemporari oleh artis tempatan Malaysia sebelum kembali semula kepada rentak klasik. The building functioned primarily as a small retail and commercial hub\, housing modest shops and services that supported the everyday economy of Chinatown. Today\, as many units sit underused\, Bangunan Pak Peng stands as a reminder of the area’s once-vibrant commercial life and its ongoing transition within the city’s urban landscape.

This session explores how river ecosystems can thrive even alongside growing skylines. \nWhat Audiences Can Expect \nLatest research findings on Malaysia’s otter population\nCase studies highlighting coexistence challenges\nConservation policy insights and enforcement realities\nPractical pathways for public involvement\n Live Q&A with field experts\nThe talk balances scientific depth with accessible storytelling\, making it engaging for both professionals and curious members of the public. \nFeaturing Malaysian conservation scientists\, wildlife researchers\, and environmental advocates working across riverine and urban ecosystems from the Malaysia Otter Network (MON). DESCRIPTION:Following January Low as a solo performer whose role has evolved from dancer to mother\, this work asks what it means to be a contemporary female practitioner of Indian classical dance today. It challenges both Low’s and the audience’s perceptions of the Indian classical dancer by foregrounding the unseen physical discipline required to sustain an art form without the certainty of the stage. Pending also examines how Odissi adapts in the digital age\, where learning is slowed\, guidance is virtual\, and feedback unfolds over weeks rather than moments. \nAbout the artist:\nJanuary Low is a Malaysian mid-career dance artist who specialises in Odissi and has been practising for close to 30 years. She spent her formative training in Sutra Dance Theatre and toured extensively with the company for over a decade.
